Why we don't use positive affirmations

Positive lines only cover the problem up. We follow the original principles of pure EFT, which works like pulling weeds out by the roots — we stay with the negative emotion until it dissolves on its own. Why the app works this way.

How a tapping session works

  1. Name the feeling

Choose from a list of emotions or physical sensations. No lengthy typing needed.

  2. Rate the intensity

On a scale of 0–10, estimate how much the situation bothers you, so you can see the difference at the end.

  3. Tune in

The app builds a setup statement that names what you feel and ends with self-acceptance.

  4. Work through nine points

A visual guide shows you where to tap and which reminder phrase to repeat.

  5. Check in again

At the end you rate how you feel again and can save the result to your journal.

How can Tap Into Calm help you?

About the app – your guide to letting go

Try EFT online from the comfort of home. This web app acts as a discreet guide that walks you through a whole session step by step. A metronome helps keep a steady pace and a visual map shows where to tap. It runs right in your browser, even offline, and you can optionally add it to your home screen.

About the method – Emotional Freedom Techniques

EFT, sometimes described as “acupuncture without needles”, is a self-help technique that combines focusing your attention on a specific problem with gently tapping on selected points on the body. People often use it with stress, tension, worry, or uncomfortable emotional overload. Many people find it helps them settle and connect better with what they're experiencing. It is not a treatment and does not replace care from a doctor or psychotherapist.

Frequently asked questions about the app and the method

What is Tap Into Calm?

Tap Into Calm is a web app for guided EFT sessions. It walks you step by step through a simple self-help routine for stress, tension, and difficult emotions.

What is EFT tapping?

EFT, also known as tapping, is a technique in which you focus your attention on what you're experiencing while gently tapping on selected points on the body. Some sources report possible benefits for managing anxiety and stress, while also stressing the need for further research.

Why doesn't the app use positive affirmations?

Positive lines only cover the problem up. The app follows the original principles of pure EFT and stays with the real feeling until the intensity drops. Why the app works this way.

What can I expect from my first session?

A first session is mostly about trying out the routine and noticing how you feel while doing it. Some people feel relief quickly; for others the value is more in pausing, making sense of their emotions, and giving themselves a moment of attention. Try it for yourself and go straight to starting a session.

Is EFT safe?

EFT is generally considered a relatively safe approach, but like other stress-management techniques it may not suit everyone in every situation. If you have serious mental health difficulties, significant trauma, or you feel worse during a session, it's best to stop and speak with a professional.

Does the app replace professional care?

No. Tap Into Calm is a self-help tool for supporting well-being and managing stress, not a health service or a medical device.

How do I know when to seek professional help?

If your difficulties are getting worse, lasting a long time, significantly affecting your daily life, or you feel you can't manage on your own, it's appropriate to contact a doctor or psychotherapist. The same applies if you have thoughts of self-harm or are in an acute crisis.

How does the app handle my data?

Your privacy is our absolute priority. The app is designed to work fully offline ("local-first"). All your settings and journal entries are stored solely in your browser's storage on your own device. You can delete everything at any time from the app's settings.

Is data stored on a server, and do I need an account?

The journal, notes, and settings stay on this device, and the app has no account. The one exception is an optional AI phrase suggestion: only the description you type and the intensity number are sent. How that request is limited is explained on the about page.
